dr-linda-kader1Dr Linda Kader [MBBS MD FRANZCP Cert Glob Mntl Hlth (Harvard)] is a fully qualified psychiatrist and psychotherapist with 20 years experience working across public and private settings in Melbourne. Dr Kader has a passionate commitment to her clinical work and she is very well-known amongst her peers for her evidence-based practice guided by the highest ethical and professional standards of care. She believes in maintaining strong therapeutic relationships with her patients and works collaboratively throughout their journeys in mental health recovery and attaining their functional goals.

Dr Kader has worked for many years at the world-renowned Orygen Youth Health, a tertiary care setting for Early Intervention for adolescents and young adults. She led the clinical team at Early Psychosis Prevention & Intervention Centre (EPPIC) at Orygen and contributed to the development of the service. She has participated in teaching, academic and research projects pertaining to care for the youth with first episode psychosis.

Dr Kader also has an academic appointment as the Deputy Dean of Medical Education with the University of Melbourne which allows her to contribute her expertise in teaching for future generation of doctors in Australia. Having trained in MBSR (Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction), she uses the skills as appropriate in her clinical work with practice. She has a strong interest in refugee Mental Health and received training on Global Mental Health and Refugee Trauma at Harvard University.

Dr Kader’s interests include early psychosis, schizophrenia, bipolar disorders, depression, anxiety disorders, OCD, PTSD, grief/loss in adolescents/teenagers, young adults and adults (18-60yrs). She offers psychotherapy (short-term and long-term) to address specific issues and difficulties. Dr Kader has a particular interest in providing second opinion, supporting medical students and junior doctors in their  health maintenance and supervision of psychiatric registrars. She is also keen to  engage and support artists in their creative paths to develop awareness about emotional  difficulties and finding resilience and better coping strategies.
