Practice Nurses – Melinda, Jih

Melinda graduated from Victoria University in 2012 as an Endorsed Enrolled Nurse. Starting her career at Royal Melbourne Hospital in theatre she then moved to Australian Red Cross Blood Service as a phlebotomist. Commencing in General Practice, Melinda has developed a passion for community health and the opportunity to deliver the best continuity of care to improve health outcomes in all patients. She loves the interactions she has with everybody who comes into the treatment room, whether it be for 5 minutes or one hour. At home, Melinda has a full family life including being a netball mum and a horse mum and loving wife. Personally, she loves craft and playing squash.

Jih graduated in 2006 from the Philippines with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and has worked as a clinic nurse since then. Her main skills include child and adult immunisations, wound management, and assisting in minor surgical procedures, which are of particular interest to her. She has also been involved in maternal and child health. She is organised, hard-working and passionate about giving quality care. Jih enjoys working as a Practice Nurse because it gives her an opportunity to flourish in her role and become part of a community, which she deems very important to her and her daughter. She does not mind not being remembered by name as long as she is remembered as the gentle nurse who brightened your day when you were at the doctor’s.
