Practice Fee Update
The Government is changing the rules about billing for consultations delivered by telephone and video link. The mandated requirement for bulk-billing has been removed in most instances, so your consultations may from now on attract a fee.
From Thursday 1st October 2020, consultations delivered by telephone and video link will no longer be routinely bulk-billed, except for AGE and DSP concession-card holders.
As with face-to-face consultations, telehealth will be billed as a private fee, which attracts a Medicare rebate.
Children under-16 and holders of other Commonwealth Concession cards will be offered a discounted fee.
To keep everyone safe during this COVID-19 emergency, telehealth will remain the principal way in which we provide care to our patients.
Please ensure that our Reception staff know if you have a Commonwealth Concession card, so that your consultation can be billed appropriately.

Our Services During the COVID-19 Pandemic
Here at Moreland West Medical Centre we have responded to the current COVID-19 crisis by putting in place new procedures and practices to safely serve our community. Your contact with the clinic will begin with a telephone or video consultation and your doctor will decide with you if you need to be seen in person.
When people need to come to the clinic we apply careful infection control practices. We have installed a plexiglass screen in Reception, our staff wear masks and appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE). We clean all touched surfaces regularly and use hand sanitiser frequently.
When you attend the clinic in person, you may be asked to wait in your car, or outside the building, to minimise infection risk. You will be triaged by our staff before you are allowed to enter the building – this means you will be asked questions about any symptoms of, or exposure to, COVID-19. As you enter and leave the building you will be asked to sanitise your hands with the provided hand sanitiser.
We see patients with any respiratory symptoms in a daily ‘Respiratory Clinic’, after they have had a phone consultation with one of our doctors. If you attend the Respiratory Clinic you will enter through a side entrance and be seen in a separate part of the building by a doctor in full PPE.

GP Dr Ann Watt is now offering consultations to assist with weight loss. She is Optifast accredited and has experience in evidence–based, rapid, safe weight loss with a ketogenic diet. She will help you gain confidence in managing your weight with strategies (including medication if necessary) to prevent weight gain.
